Invited Book Club Workshop
On the International Reading Day, Jing CHAI is invited by the Wuliqiao Community Center to lead a children’s book club session for adults on the award-winning Du Iz Tak? at the newly opened Community Reading Center.
What was the last time you learned a new language? It could be from a foreign trip, a coding formula, or trying to talk to your newly adopted pet. What are something that we as the native speakers are easily take for granted but could be a real challenge for the non-native learners of our mother tongue?
As we read through the book about bug language, using all of our methods to decipher the meaning, we are walking the same path to those new beginners of Chinese, especially the characters. With the read & match exercise, the participants are not only feeling more sympathazied with our foreign students, they are also amazed by how much creativities a pair of fresh eyes could see from our thousand-year standing characters.
