字圆其说 x Fangyuan English
Workshop
A group of 6th graders native Chinese students led by Fangyuan English visited the 字圆其说 interactive exhibition. Jing CHAI hosted a full-English-immersed workshop on the topic of non-native speakers’ perspectives on Chinese characters. The 3-step process of Find-Guess-Draft offered brand new angles for the Chinese kids, and it was furthered by a matching game guiding them to think from the meta-congnition level how the Chinese characters are percepted by the non-native learners, which led to the reflection on their own practices and if they could think outside of the box about soemthing they take granted for.
