Invited Community Workshop
In the third and fourth Dongming Community Workshop, our experienced community partners took the role of mentors, leading the new joiners for a total immersion of the I Got One experience.
Inspired by the creative perspectives on Chinese characters shared by foreign language learners at NYU Shanghai, the native speakers re-examined their habitual flow of thinking when it comes to the writing system, and noticed on the “unexplainable” part of it. The groups then worked on multiple channels to tackle on these “unexplainable” parts applying a number of means of associations.
Lastly, we worked brainstormed on the sustainability of this project’s partnership with the local community as well as opportunities for showcases in the future. The community partners agreed on the participation of the upcoming community festival, then discussed and designed the booth and interactions.
