This character begins with the radical for hand, which relates to the meaning. The second part is the same as a common character (meaning “is”)

It consists of the radical 扌on the left, representing the hand or action, and the right side resembling half of the character 但 (dàn), which can be associated with the idea of “however” or “but” We could remember this character by thinking a sentence like “I lifted the heavy box, but (however) it was too heavy for me to carry.

The left part has the hand radical and right part has the character meaning is- 是- so it “is” an action you do with your “hand” – LIFT.

The hand radical plus the word for “is” helps me understand that you CAN put something in your hand and thus lift it.
