The radical means flesh, but is exactly the moon character, and there is a legend during mochi season that the rabbit makes mochi on the moon and because it eats so much mochi, the rabbit is chubby. However this season only come every HALF a year, I think. So the left side is the bunny on the MOON and the right side the the HALF season.

This is actually quite a random way to remember this character, but I remember this by associating it with one instance in class where one of my classmates used this for an assignment to say they are getting fatter and fatter which was a funny moment in class for me.
