it looks like there is a rod which is stuck to the ground (the part on the right). The rod also has a hook on it and you have put something on the hook (like a key chain)

It has the right part of 城 from 城市 which means city. And I remember the famous saying of you go to New York City to BECOME anything you want.

i see it as the left part becoming the right part (like a little bubble becomes something like a stick)

城 is city. A city become a city when it is developed long enough on the same territory or ground. The left part is soil/earth, so the right part is “become”

The logic of constructing this character is somewhat flimsy, but if you try a perspective of the character being made up of shapes it might be easier to tackle. You might try looking at it like part of a square that is met at the top with a cursive-like X, and after you can remember that just try to remember the other two lines that are also present.

This character is part of 城 which we learned a couple units ago, and since this means a city, a city to BECOME big, you need to have lots of construction.
