the bottom part looks like 家 family, the top part looks like a hook. Somebody is holding your family with a hook (not really possible, since the *shape* is big)

i remember it by thinking it is ironic as the character seems to not have any definite shape or form but that is the meaning (象)

Simply put it is a confusing shape to me, since this character closely resembles the 家 character. AS such, I just see it as a similar shape to jia.
