How I memorize this character: the hand radical, that is the bottom part of this character. People use their hands to take and hold things.

the hand radical at the bottom is needed to hold/take things, and the top part looks like a house. Once you hold something it’s yours. it’s under your house.

‘TO TAKE’ or ‘TO HOLD’ something, we need our ‘HAND’.

The 手 of course reminds me of holding something with your hands, but the 口 radical reminds me that you can also hold stuff with your mouth if your hands are full. The radical above these components reminds me of a roof, that holds all of your belongings inside.

The upper portion looks like part of 给 (to give) and the bottom (the radical) is hand. When someone gives you something, you take it by hand.
