the mouth on the left looks like an open mouth. which is what your mouth looks like when you say “ya”

The left part of the character looks like a boxing sandbag, while the right part looks like a person is using their elbow and leg to attack the sandbag. I could imagine the person saying, “Hey ya,” before making a Kungfu strike.

To recall writing the character 呀, you can break it down into its components: 口 (kǒu) meaning “mouth” and 牙 (yá) meaning “tooth”. Start with the 口 shape and add the 牙 stroke inside.

呀 looks like letter “Я” from russian and kazakh alphabet. That is why its easy for me to remember it!

The right part of the character looks like someone doing a karate kick screaming “YA” while trying to hit the plank (left part of the character) in front of them (I used a practice guinea pig for my friend who is a black belt in karate, so sometimes I was the left part of the character).
