This character is almost the same as the character 买 (to buy), but this character has more lines, suggesting more 钱 money received from selling

This character looks like 买 has a hat on, so when you sell something you can 买 a new hat!

If ten(十)things have been bought(买)from you, then you have SOLD ten things. The part on top is the 十 component.

how i memorize this character: the bottom part of the character essentially is the character “买.” the top part of the character looks like arms (especially the right hand side), and it looks like someone is carrying something that they just bought from a store. thus someone had to SELL something to them for them to buy it and carry it out of the store.

It looks like a person with a hat. Many restaurants require their employees to have hats on when they work. The two lines on the left look like money. So the shop teller is receiving the money from the item they just sold.

As long as you can remember the 买 character we learned from Chinese 1 you can add a plus sign on top and that means you can SELL more to make positive profit.

To remember this character I connected to the character of 买. The character of 卖just has extra lines on the top. To me, they look like someone is opening their arms showing that they are ready to sell what they have.

Because it’s a different character from the one I learned in elementary I, this is a special kind of buying, so it has a different beginning, this kind of buying because it’s different represents selling something.
