You use a *knife* to cut a cake for *other* people so you can share it with them!

The entire word looks like the word for “man” holding a knife, which reminds me that we DO NOT (don’t) murder!

The knife represents how much other people are separated, or cut, from you

The radical for knife, in this case, resembles how two parts of the character never touch like two different things.

The knife radical on the right looks like a shield protecting a sprinting warrior against “other” people on the battlefield.

This character is part of the word for other people. As kids, we were taught about “stranger danger” and to not trust other people. In this case, the character looks like a dangerous person running with a knife.

You cut off (right) your bros (left looks similar to man) when you hang out with OTHERS.

别, you can think of it as a combination of two parts. The left part 刂 looks like a knife or blade, representing action. The right part 𠮷 represents a person. So, when you put them together, 别 represents the idea of”separating” or “parting ways” with someone using a sharp action. It’s like saying “bye” or “goodbye” to someone. Hope that helps! 👋😊
